What Is The Difference Between Cybercrime And Traditional Crime KW: what is the difference between cybercrime and traditional crime Simply saying, cybercrime is a crime that is committed using the means of the internet and technology. In contrast, traditional crime is a crime that has been committed using manual ways like robbery, theft, etc. Cybercrime is a huge issue these days, but Cybercriminals have been around since before we were all born. They're not just hackers; they come from every profession. Professional thieves are looking to steal data or money. Gang members are trying to extort businesses with threats of releasing malware-infected computers across town if their demands aren't met. Disgruntled employees seek revenge on employers by leaking personal info through denial-of-service attacks. It's complicated! But there are still some common motivations behind cyber activities, such as boredom/ vandalism,, which had led many people into this line of work in the first place. Cybercriminals' methods to gather data and perform an attack can be compared to physical 'traditional' crimes. For instance, let's compare how a criminal gang might go about breaking into your bank account in order to steal money from you against the way they could do so with someone else's computer network credentials by hacking it remotely! In traditional crime, a thief will have to go to the bank and do the robbery manually, while in cybercrime, a thief will stay in his home or office and hack the systems sing the internet. Here are some basic differences between cybercrime and traditional crime. The Scale Cyberattacks can be conducted on a scale not possible in the physical world. A traditional bank robber may only hit one or two banks per week, but an online cyber attacker could potentially target 100s or even 1000s of sites at once! The Reach We live in a world where anyone can be attacked from anywhere. The attacker does not need to show themselves, and the data they extract could never fit into one book! This means that with today's technology, hackers are able to get what feels like infinite amounts of information about you. The Speed Computer hackers have speeded up their attacks to the point that they can write a piece of code in minutes and target multiple sites. While in traditional crime, speed could be very slow as compared to the traditional crime. Perception and media effect There is a whole other side to cyber threats, and that's what people think. When big financial institutions have been hacked, the media often points fingers at organizations rather than criminals; but this would not be true in cases of physical bank robberies where credit cards can get stolen without ever touching an electronic device! Simply saying, cybercrime is a crime that is committed using the means of the internet and technology.

In traditional crime, a thief will have to go to the bank and do the robbery manually, while in cybercrime, a thief will stay in his home or office and hack the systems using the internet.

Here are some basic differences between cybercrime and traditional crime.

The Scale

Cyberattacks can be conducted on a scale not possible in the physical world. A traditional bank robber may only hit one or two banks per week, but an online cyber attacker could potentially target 100s or even 1000s of sites at once!

The Reach

We live in a world where anyone can be attacked from anywhere. The attacker does not need to show themselves, and the data they extract could never fit into one book! This means that with today's technology, hackers are able to get what feels like infinite amounts of information about you.

The Speed

Computer hackers have speeded up their attacks to the point that they can write a piece of code in minutes and target multiple sites. While in traditional crime, speed could be very slow as compared to the traditional crime.

Perception and media effect

There is a whole other side to cyber threats, and that's what people think. When big financial institutions have been hacked, the media often points fingers at organizations rather than criminals; but this would not be true in cases of physical bank robberies where credit cards can get stolen without ever touching an electronic device!
