Brigadier General Timothy J. Kadavy

Brigadier General (NE) Timothy J. Kadavy entered into military service in 1982 when he enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard.  Commissioned in 1984 as a Second Lieutenant of Armor after completing the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His initial assignments were serving as a Tank & Scout Platoon Leader in the Fremont based Troop A, 1-167th Cavalry.

During the next 10 years, he held a variety of command & staff assignments within the 1-167th Cavalry Squadron.  He served as the Executive Officer & Troop Commander of the Cavalry's Omaha-based Troop B, later serving as the Squadron Assistant Operations Officer & the Squadron Personnel Officer.  In 1994, he transitioned from traditional, part-time status to become an active duty federal status Guardsman in order to accept a position as Operations Officer with 5th U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  He served in that capacity for more than two years before moving to follow assignment with U. S. Army Forces Command & National Guard Bureau (NGB) in Georgia & Virginia, respectively.

Returning to Nebraska as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2001 to Command the 1-167th Cavalry Squadron, he led Task Force Husker for the 12 month mobilization & deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina in support of peacekeeping operations during 2002 & 2003.  Following the mobilization he completed an Army War College fellowship, working with the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration.  In July 2004 he returned to NGB as the Chief of Readiness, Plans, & Mobilization for the Army National Guard (ARNG).  In April 2006, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Camp Victory Iraq as the Chief of the Reserve Component Support Division within the Multi-National Corps Iraq.

In September 2006 he returned stateside to assume duties as the G-3 of the Army National Guard. As the G-3, he provided vision & direction to a team of Senior Officers in the areas of Force Management, Operations, Training, Readiness, Mobilization & Aviation.  As the primary directorate point of contact for the Plans, Operations, Readiness, & Training Advisory Committee & their subordinate com-mittees, he was responsible for the programming & execution of over three billion dollars for the Training Program Evaluation Group.  As part of the ARNG Directorate General Staff Team, he coordinated the resourcing & planning for future actions & advised the NGB General Officer leadership on operational issues.

On October 10th 2007 Brigadier General Kadavy was selected by Nebraska Governor David Heineman to succeed Major General Roger P. Lempke as the thirty-first Adjutant General of the State of Nebraska.

Brigadier General Kadavy was born in Lincoln, NE on November 25th 1963. He and his wife Laurie have two sons, Seth & Peter.


EDUCATION:
His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Business Administration, & a Master of Procurement & Acquisitions Management degree from Webster University in St. Louis, MO.

His primary military education includes the U.S. Army War College Fellowship Program, the Command & General Staff College, as well as the Armor Officer Basic & Advanced Courses. 

MAJOR AWARDS AND DECORATIONS:
Throughout his distinguished 25 year career, BG Kadavy has received numerous military honors & distinctions, including the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, & Army Staff Identification Badge.
