Qualification Requirements: General Experience: Experience, education, or training= which has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft pa= rts, accessories, and components and to make adjustments and settings according = to established specifications. M= ust be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. Specialized Experience: WG-10 must have 18 months of specialized experien= ce installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical = and pneudraulic systems on the aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience which demonstrates the = skill to align, adjust and rig systems and controls after the replacement of part= s, components and major repairs. Experience in operating a variety of measurement, test and diagnostic equipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft. Experience in inspecting the full = range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyze existing problems and take corrective action. Experience= using a wide variety of technical publications to include complex schematics and specifications. Substitution of Education for Special= ized Experience: Job related education/training in aviation technology may be substituted on a day-for-d= ay basis for not more than one half of the required specialized experience. A federal aviation airframe and po= wer plant license is qualifying at the WG-05 level. Your application, (OF-612, SF-171, = or resume), must show how your experience, awards, and training are applicable= to the specialized experience requirements listed above and the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s).

1.= Ability to do diversified work with tools and equipment, requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions.

2.= Knowledge of aircraft components and maintenance procedures.

3.= Ability to diagnose trouble and determine remedy where overall knowl= edge of all systems of aircraft is required.

4.= Ability to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results.

5.= Ability to interpret instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraft.

Summary of Duties: This position is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) which responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties includ= ing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraf= t, fixed and rotary wing.

(1) Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include phase inspection, daily inspections, pre and post flight inspections and such spe= cial inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling,= and inspection of on-board emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc.

(2) Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair = and testing of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces. Using a variety of methods involvi= ng test equipment, visual checks, and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft. Inst= alls, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies suc= h as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting Specialists as required. Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs. Conducts ground func= tional tests of all aircrafts systems. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluids, fuel, and hydraulic flu= id. Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior to takeoff. Inspects for conditions such as oi= l, fuel, and hydraulic leaks, cut lines, tires and loose panels.

(3) May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, et= c.

CAUTION

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

1. Military Technicians are ineligibl= e for enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician positio= n will terminate these incentives.

2. Technicians are paid through direct deposit/electronic funds transfer.

3. Male candidates born after 31 Dece= mber 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

4. Military Technicians in the except= ed service will wear the appropriate military uniform while performing as a technician.
