Minimum Grade: E1 Maximum Gr= ade: E6. Individual does not have to currently be assigned to one of these career fields to be considered for this position, howev= er compatibility requirements must be met prior to appointment to the position. Military assignment= will be to a unit supported by the employing activity.

Qualification Requirements:&n= bsp; General Experience: Experience, education, or training= which has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools com= mon to the trade. Specialized Experience: WG-10 must have 18= months of specialized experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various ma= jor and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on= an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Substitution Of Education For Specialized Experience: Job related education/training in aviation technology may be substituted on a day-for-day basis for not more = than one half of the required specialized experience. A federal aviation airframe and po= wer plant license is qualifying at the WG-05 level.

1. Ability to do diversified work w= ith tools and equipment, requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensi= ons.

2. Knowledge of aircraft components= and maintenance procedures.

3. Ability to diagnose trouble and determine remedy where overall knowledge of all systems of aircraft is required.

4. Ability to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results.

5. Ability to interpret instruction= al material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraft.

Summary of Duties: This posi= tion is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) with responsibility = for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraf= t, fixed and rotary wing.

(1) Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include phase inspection, daily inspections, pre and post flight inspections and such spe= cial inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling,= and inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc.

(2) Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and perf= orms unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces. Using a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks, and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determi= nes the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs = or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into= the aircraft. Installs, aligns, a= nd makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies such as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting special= ists as required. Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs. Conducts ground functional tests o= f all aircraft systems. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, and hydraul= ic fluid. Launches and re= covers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior to takeoff. Inspects for conditions such as oil, fuel, and hydraulic leaks, cut lines, tires and loo= se panels.

(3) May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, et= c.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

1. Military Technicians are ineligibl= e for enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician positio= n will terminate these incentives.

2. Technicians are paid through direct deposit/electronic funds transfer.

3. Male candidates born after 31 Dece= mber 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

4. Military Technicians in the except= ed service will wear the appropriate military uniform while performing as a technician.

5. Veteran's preference does not appl= y to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709 (f). =

6. Military grade inversion is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exc= eed the military grade of personnel supervised.
