MILITARY HONORS

MILITARY HONOR GUARD TEAM

The Nebraska National Guard's Military Honor Guard Program was officially established January 2004. At that time there were only two individuals working in the program. Presently there are approximately 130 active volunteers, mostly made up of traditional M-Day soldiers and some Technicians throughout the State and there are six teams located in the following cities: Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney, North Platte, Scottsbluff and Norfolk. The State itself is broken up into 8 different sections or zones, currently 6 of the 8 zones are active.

The Military Honor Guard program team members (E4s and above) receive one day of base pay and E3s and below receive a $50 stipend for performing training or performing funeral details. Team members also receive one retirement point for each day of training or funeral performed, maximum of one point per day. After a volunteer has participated in 10 funerals, the Honor Guard program manager is authorized to purchase a Dress Blue Uniform for that individual.
